Why We Care
Listed above are words. Words that impact our city, especially in underserved communities. These are the words we focus on and these are the words which we are committed to addressing. But we can only be successful in addressing some of these challenges when we - as a collective community - give generously to our Giving Circle. Without funds, we can't help these nonprofits meet these challenges. So, if you are already a Giving Circle donor, please give generously. OUR IMPACT
First of all, let us just say that it is not about us. Our goal is to support (financially and otherwise) worthy nonprofits that are doing the hard work.
When we talk about impact, we like to focus on the nonprofits which we have met and helped over the last twelve years.
W3 are pleased to give out checks to the worthy nonprofits to whom our members have cast their votes. But there is so much more to be done than handing out a check. We hope to draw attention to our grantees so that other funders will step up as well. Only 15% of funds currently awarded to nonprofits go towards nonprofits serving women and children.
The more money we raise, the more money we can give away to worthy nonprofits. 100% of the donations we receive through The Philadelphia Foundation goes towards funding our grants.
What We Learn
Giving Circles provide a unique opportunity to meet numerous nonprofits where they do their work by going on site visits, volunteering or just listening to their presentations at the annual voting meeting. It is a unique way of learning about small, local nonprofits doing important work in our own city. And Giving Circles not only provide a learning experience, but they also provide a relationship building experience as well. Relationships are forged through caring and ties can carry far beyond the initial funding year. We have Giving Circle members who mentor nonprofits, sit on boards and continue to volunteer their time, all because of our grants process. Oftentimes, we get back more than we give.
Our Impact . . . . large and small.
Giving Circles not only provide a learning experience, but they also provide a relationship building experience as well. Relationships are forged through caring and ties can carry far beyond the initial funding year. Our impact can be as large as XXX or as small as teaching one child how to read. We have Giving Circle members who mentor nonprofits, sit on boards and continue to volunteer their time, all because of our grants process. Oftentimes, we get back more than we give.
Our Donors
We thought you would be interested in seeing the breakdown of contributions to our Giving Circle in 2025. As you can see, the bulk of the funding is in the $200 to $250 range and that is what we see as our core funding, which we appreciate beyond measure. But we are pleased to report that 35% of our funders contributed in the three highest categories. As you know, the more money that we raise, the more money we can give away to worthy nonprofits so, for those that can give more, we appreciate you making that extra effort. And in 2025, we had approximately 50 new contributors so we “welcome” these new members to collective giving! But no matter what level one gives, we are all part of our circle – our amazing circle of giving. So, thank you all.

What is trust based philanthropy? The Giving Circle of Women's Connection Philadelphia actively works to increase the scope and diversity of our grant applicants. We believe that organizations that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion create environments that respect and value individual differences, and are uniquely suited to address the needs of the communities to which they are dedicated. We are committed to equity, diversity, collaboration, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability.

December The Giving Circle's Fiscal Year ends
January Grant Application is posted at The Philadelphia Foundation
February Applications are due
March First review of Applications is conducted to determine which applicants move
forward to site visits
April Site visits are conducted The second review of applications is conducted to determine which nonprofits will be considered for presentations
May The finalists will make presentations at a taping which will be shared at a later date to all Giving Circle donors. Eligible donors will vote and the nonprofits receiving our grants will be chosen. The winners will be announced at a celebration event at the end of May.
